Use different papers to create different styles of folios.
















 






INSTRUCTIONS:

 

Cut a piece of light weight card 11 1/2" x 6 " and score at 5", 10" and 18 1/8" along the 12" side.

Cut a notch using a round punch in the centre of the end 6" side as shown.  This flap will make an inside pocket.

                                                   


                                                           


Cut a piece of card 4 3/16" 6" and glue next to the 10 1/8th score line of the first piece of card to create a pocket as shown.

Double sided card was used to make the folio which has a yellow design on one side and a blue on the other.  The yellow side is the outside of the folio the blue is the inside.

 

REINFORCING THE SPINE

Cut a piece of card 5 7/8" x 3/8" and glue along the outside of the spine as shown.  Make a hole in the centre of the spine and thread ribbon or twine through it to make a closure.  This is easier to do before you glue the pockets on.

                                                                                                   


CENTRE POCKET
Cut a piece of card 5" wide and 4 3/4" high to make a pocket for the centre panel.

                                         

Score at: 1/4", 1/2", 4 1/2" and 4 3/4"" along the 5" side and 
at 4 1/4" and 4 1/2" on the 4 3/4" side ensuring the scoring is at the bottom edge.

  

Cut off the bottom corners as shown, cut a notch in the top using a round punch and fold and burnish the score lines in


Glue onto the centre panel as shown to make a pocket.

 

LEFT HAND POCKET

Cut a piece of card 11 1/2" x 7 1/2".  
Score at 5", 10" and 10 1/8" along the 11 1/2" side.
Score at 2" and 5 1/2" along the 7 1/2" side.

  


Cut off the 4 corners as shown. Round the corners of the flaps.

                                                                                                                      

Cut two 1" circles and two 3/4" circles and make a hole in the centre of each circle.  Stack the 3/4" circle on top of the 1" circle and hold together with a brad. 



Attach the circles using the brad to the flaps of the envelope as shown.  Attach the envelope to the left hand side of the inside of the folio.


  

DECORATE THE FRONT OF THE FOLIO


 

I added a pocket and journaling card to the front of the folio.

Expecto patronum shadow box

December ATC swap

  December 23 ATC swap.  Theme Christmas Music / Songs.   No tutorial this month as forgot to take photos and these were quite simple to make.  Base of ATC cards (3.5" x 2.5") are cut from green card.   Cut some music paper from an old 6 x 6 vintage Christmas pad just slightly smaller than the ATC.   Distressed the edges and then went around the edges with distress ink before gluing onto the ATC.    Layered a thin hessian ribbon, green cheesecloth and a strip of red card across the ATC.   Die cut musical instruments from gold card and musical notes from black card.  Glued these on as shown.  Decorated with die cut Holly leaves, red snowflakes and pearl berries. Also made a mini shadow box card to show off one of the ATCs.
